Len West and Mike Sampson founded Sampson West in November 1986, having previously qualified at Touche Ross & Co (now Deloitte). Nick Hickling became a partner in 2009 after joining the firm as an employee in 2007.

Our accountancy practice employs 11 people and operates from 34 Ely Place, in Central London. We take pride in our profession and try each year to train one graduate to satisfy our obligations to the profession as well as to our staffing requirement.

Sampson West believes the best things come in small packages which is why we like to manage a compact portfolio of clients, in order to fulfil our aim of providing a first class service. We put the interests of our clients before our own and do not undertake any tax and accounting work that we are incapable of completing competently and in time. Sampson West has grown organically by retaining existing clients and expanding the range of services provided to them as well as through word-of-mouth referrals.

Many of our clients have been with the firm for 20 years. Several of them are past or present directors of public companies or other prominent individuals for whom we provide personal taxation services.

We prepare accounts for sole traders and partnerships as well as limited companies and often give tax advice related to those accounts. We act for a number of UK companies that are subsidiaries of overseas parent companies (often quoted companies).

Sampson West is authorised to conduct investment business which however is  only provided to clients for whom also provide accountancy, audit or taxation services. Mike Sampson is highly qualified as a financial advisor and an Associate of the Personal Finance Society.

Regulated to carry on audit work by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.
